Senior Software Engineer - Platform

RedSeal provides a scalable security platform that models networks and provides cyber resilience against cyber-attacks. RedSeal is deployed in on-premise and cloud environments. The product is written in Java and is surrounded by Linux kernel. The deployment of the software in different platforms is a key differentiator as it adopts to our customer needs. This position requires a deep understanding of various deployment platforms and programming around kernel/networking interface and requires prior work experience in a similar space.

Performance Objectives

In this role, you will:

  • Leverage technology knowledge to advance product architecture and create technical designs while partnering with the product owner to deliver and gain QA acceptance.
  • Design platform and supporting tools and utilities for network security applications running in a physical and virtual appliance.
    • Multi-node dB connector via SSH and SSL.
    • Orderly platform bring up/teardown for multi-node deployments.
    • Dockerize RS code ease of deployment.
    • Integrate Packer tool for Virtual image build-out for different target platforms (AMI, KVM).
    • Core server modification to defer chores not conducted by spoke nodes.
    • Health agent platform integration for multi-node deployment.

Required Qualifications/Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in Java development and strong Linux fundamentals and platform concepts.
  • BS in Computer Science or related field.
  • Excellent Linux system and kernel level exposure.
  • Hands on coding knowledge in Java, C, Python, TKL/TK, bash and scripting.
  • Strong networking infrastructure background and deep understanding of routers, firewall, load balancers and switches is a must.
  • Excellent understanding of virtual architecture from leading vendors.
  • Experience with at least one scripting language (e.g., Bash, Python, or PowerShell).
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, agile and nimble environment.
  • Proven successful technical leadership experience in Network Security technologies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills

  • Kickstart, PXE and VMware product expertise are highly desirable.
  • Experience using tools such as Pivotal, GitHub, Jenkins.
  • Understands fundamentals of agile methodologies – iterative development, SCRUM, UAT, continuous integration.
  • Exposure to container technologies such as Docker and open source tools such as Packer.
  • Ability to work independently and lead others, if so required.
