Overview
We are looking for someone who can lead the engineering/ product development function for RedSeal Labs India. The individual in this position will report to the Director-Engineering of RedSeal and will work closely with U.S. based counterparts to drive key engineering and product initiatives

Location: Pune, India(Hybrid)

Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
  • Manage a multi-disciplinary team (Plugins development, Knowledge engineers, Engineering Project Management) responsible for executing RedSeal’s product(plugins) and technology vision.
  • Lead the efforts of a team comprised of RedSeal Labs India employees, independent contractors and outsourced consultants.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend and knowledge network engineers working on plugins development
  • Act as Scrum Master for the team—driving Agile ceremonies, removing blockers, improving velocity, and ensuring predictable delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and cross-functional leaders to define roadmap, scope, and priorities.
  • Maintain high engineering standards through code reviews, design reviews, and best practices.
  • Provide technical direction and architectural guidance for complex features and platform enhancements.
  • Ensure system scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
  • Apply strong networking and security fundamentals to evaluate and guide development of features related to routers, firewalls, load balancers, and access controls.
  • Oversee teams implementing or integrating with firewall and security-related components.
  • Ensure the application aligns with industry best practices and security frameworks.
  • Partner with QA, DevOps, Release Engineering, and Support teams to ensure smooth end-to-end delivery.
  • Drive integration initiatives with third-party systems and services (integration experience is a strong plus).
  • Collaborate with Technical Support to provide timely resolution to customer issues.
  • Build credibility throughout the organization by establishing yourself a dedicated leader and change agent.
  • Drive the recruiting strategy, maintaining the high quality of talent already on board as you grow the India product development team.
  • Set the standards and practices for team and individual behaviors, habits and drive a positive working environment.
  • Build, lead, empower and coach a world-class group of employees while overcoming the challenges associated with rapidly growing organizations.

    Required Qualifications/Skills
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 6 to 8 years of hands-on experience in different technical roles (e.g., engineer, tech lead).
  • 3 to 5 years leading and managing teams delivering software engineering solutions/products.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong hands-on background in Java, distributed systems, and large-scale backend applications
  • Strong expertise in computer networking.
  • Proven Scrum Master experience—leading Agile teams and driving continuous improvement.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (routing, switching, protocols) and security fundamentals..
  • Familiarity with firewalls, network access controls, and related security technologies.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic, agile, and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to balance technical depth with leadership responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications/Skills
  • Experience with system integrations, APIs, or third-party service integrations.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or SDN technologies (VMware NSX, Cisco ACI)
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, Gradle, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience in a product-based or security-focused company.
